FAMOUS PEOPLE IN HISTORY

1            1.    Alexander Graham Bell

·         He was most famous for his invention : The telephone

·         He was always interested in the science of sound

·         His wife and mother were deaf and he used to like helping deaf people

·         He was able to send signals through a wire

·         Hi assistant’s name was Thomas Watson

·         He was the first one to get a patent ( a government license that gives the person a right to make, sell or invent something)

·         His other inventions:

The Metal Detector (A machine that detects metal)

Audiometer ( A machine that can detect hearing problems)

                  2.  Leonardo da Vinci

·         Born in 1542 in Vinci, Italy ( that was where his name came from)

·         He was an artist, an inventor, and a scientist. He was known to be one of the most talented and most intelligent person ever

·         The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper were 2 of his most famous paintings

·         He carried a journal with him because he liked to draw everything in detail

·         He liked to draw machines, the human body, and inventions

3         3.     Thomas Edison

·         Born in February 1847

·         He didn’t do well at school- he was home schooled by his mother

·         As a young boy, he worked as a telegraph operator

·         He became interested in communication and other inventions

·         Mehlo Park in New Jersey was where he built his research lab

·         His famous inventions :

-          The Phonograph: A machine that could record sounds

-          The Light Bulb: Made his first practical light bulb that had safe wires to enter homes

-          The Motion Picture Camera: A more advanced type of camera

4         4.   Henry Ford

·         Famous for inventing and assembling and automobiles ( cars)

·         As a young boy, he used to enjoy assembling the pocket watch his father gave him

·         In 1846, he built The Quadracycle

·         He couldn’t make enough money at the beginning

·         He built a race car called The 999  which made him famous

·         In 1903, he started his own Motor company called The Ford Motor Company

·         In 1908, He produced The Model T

·         In 20 years he produced around 15 to 20 million cars

·         He was famous for The Ford, The Mazda, The Volvo, The Land Rover..
